Waste is the
problem.
What
is to be done with the waste?
Frequently, problems are dealt
with as they come up, not when the
complete solution to all objections
is at hand.
* The problem is Energy.
* The solution is Nuclear.
* The objection is Nuclear Waste.
Waste does not have to be hid. It
should be kept where it can be
inspected. Containers could be
designed to where the waste could be
put in new ones every 50 years or
100 years, or as needed.
Some nations are recycling to where volume is even less.
Start a program today to award
$100 million to the person or group
who develops a clean solution.
Guidelines for the solution would
have to be developed as well.
But start the solution to energy,
then begin working on the solution
to waste. We should not let the
criticizers dictate policy by their
use of scare tactics. Incidentally,
no one remembers the names of those
who have been critical in history.
Everyone remembers the names of
those who came up with solutions.
For instance, in our home town 20 years ago, a new freeway was suggested. There were critics who made all kinds of outrageous claims about how the environment was going to be effected. The controversy was so intense that the public caved in to the radicals. Thus the freeway was built, but without exchanges at major intersections with other freeways. Now, these many years later, none of the predictions of the alarmists came true and the exchanges are being built with 100 times the cost and inconvenience (due to urban sprawl). Incidentally, no one remembers the names of the screamers and sign-toters. But everyone feels the pain of detours, baracades and higher taxes.
The alarmists do not have solutions. They have statistics, probabilities, exaggerations and microphones, but no answers. Of all the radicals in the 60's, the Chicago 7 are the only ones whose names are still remembered and not all of them still have the same views today. History will not be kind to Al Gore. He will be compared to the sit-at-homers of Christopher Columbus' day, shouting the earth is flat, you will sail off the edge. Doing nothing to help the problems of man, even making the problem worse by supporting a carbon footprint large enough for 100 energy wasters.
I do not have answers, either. I am not counted amongst the intelligent elite, neither. But I am willing to do something and develop as we go with intelligent decisions and solutions. The first of which would be to put someone in charge who is not for their party or the minority vote, but for the majority of the people.
