Latter-Day Inspiration

Paul and others of his day completed the inspired Word of God.
Everything since then is latter-day inspiration.
The latter-day inspired folks are full of error:
* Joseph Smith
* All the Popes
* Mary Baker Eddy
* Russellites
* and hordes of the not so famous

They all claim latter-day inspiration. At first, it coincides with the Bible, then runs against it, then becomes more important than the Bible, supersedes it.

Be very careful of those who are getting messages from spirits. Sooner or later they will show themselves adding to and taking away from the Bible.

All of us that bear the responsibility to take the Gospel to the lost, attempt to walk with the Lord. In doing so, we commune with him and he with us. We are guided by thoughts and circumstance (on some occasions) and so on. But, any of us who are really trying to know God's mind and will, will always compare our "guidance" with the Bible (God's inspired Word, the Final Authority) to see how that "guidance" measures-up.

One of the ways that latter-day inspiration shows itself is with mysticism of the ordinances of the church. Some will try to show that there is some sort of power in the elements of communion for salvation or in one writer's opinion, healing, or there is saving power in Baptism or Baptism automatically makes the participant a member of a church.

Mysticism is the practice of leaving God out of the equation and making objects or chants or practices somehow holy. The OT is full of this, but Jesus said that all of that pictured what was to come and that He, Jesus had come.

It is all in Him, look to no other person or practice or object or creed. Our only help is in Him. He is truly all in all.

This is why we must tell others about Jesus. They long to hear about where they can get their help. Find a stranger or a friend.
