Psa 37:7 "Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him…"
Hurry at this point will not let you …
Hurry will make you …
Hurry is a killer Hurry kills continuance in Prayer Rom 12:12 "Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;"
The Christian will not continue in Prayer
He can't stay at it.
Hurry kills an answer to prayer Psa 40:1 "I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry."
Hurry will deny the answer to prayer
Hurry will cut your prayer short
Hurry will get you off your knees
Hurry kills Fruit
Do you remember the story about the Sower?
Luke 8:13 "…which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away."
The seed on the Rocky Ground
It is …
Then look at what happened
Do you remember the seed which fell amongst the thorns? Luke 8:14 "… which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection."
Hurry killed
Hurry pointed out
but all these things are the very demise
Then, do you remember the seed that fell on the good ground? Luke 8:15 "…which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience."
How is progress made?
Hurry kills progress Hurry kills victory
Progress is slow.
Oh, sometimes it looks like it is coming real fast
The Wise man said,
but it is also true
Hurry is a killer
True Progress or Victory
True Progress or Victory
Hurry kills the humility of the humble and is the companion of the Prideful. Eccl 7:8 "Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit." Patience is the opposite of Pride
The Prideful are
The Humble are
Hurry kills Compassion
Mat 18:26 "The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay
thee all."
He let him go out of patience.
The impatient leader
Hurry kills Forgiveness
"…and forgave him the debt."
Hurry is the foe of forgiveness
This is exactly why
Hurry kills love Mat 5:44 "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"
Hurry has no time for all this
Hurry only has time to love …
Because Hurry is in a Hurry Hurry kills Self Control Luke 21:19 "In your patience possess ye your souls."
The outside force
Hurry is that sense of reckless abandonment
The sooner we get under way
Which brings us to our next point … Hurry kills the Long Race Heb 12:1 "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,"
That weight that needs to be laid aside …
In sports
because Hurry does not have time
Hurry is the Rabbit
He runs very fast
Hurry puts on a good show
Hurry is a killer Hurry kills Attentive Listening
Do you remember Paul asking King Aggripa
Then, King Aggripa told Paul Acts 26:28 "…Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian." And then … Acts 26:30 "…the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them:"
and hurriedly left
Oh, if he had done like it says in Book of Romans … Rom 2:7 "… by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and (and seek for) honour and (and seek for) immortality, (seek) eternal life:"
But Hurry is the enemy
Agrippa said,
as if …
Paul was still willing to tell the King more
and Hurry killed the King's ability
Hurry kills the thought of Suffering with Christ
Rom 5:3 "And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;"
Hurry kills Hope Rom 8:25 "But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it."
A Christian cannot Hurry for Hope
Hope comes
Mat 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
After those things have been "added unto you" many times
Rom 15:4 "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." When it says … Mal 3:10 "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."
Hurry does not have time for waiting on Hope
Hurry will never be able
Hurry does not have time for promises
Which brings us to our next point Hurry kills the Promise of the Promises Heb 6:12 "That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises."
Don't get hung up
Hard work is vital
Through Faith & Patience
Heb 6:13 "For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,"
Now we remember Abraham
That hurrying almost killed the Promises of God
Heb 6:15 "And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise." In another place it says … Heb 10:36 "For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have one the will of God, ye might receive the promise." Hurry kills Unity Rom 15:5 "Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:"
It takes Patience
Hurrying will destroy the whole thing Rev 1:9 "I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ."
John said
There is no Unity in Hurry
Hurry kills Respect for the Power of God Col 1:11 "Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;"
The Power of God
Hurry kills our love of the Second Coming
2 Th 3:5 "And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ."
Don't get in a hurry for Jesus to come.
When you would be much better off
because Hurry is a killer of “the Love of His Return” Hurry kills Respect for Grandpa Titus 2:2 "That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience."
Hurry is a killer for respect for Grandpa
We older fellows
Not in a Hurry,
Hurry kills Maturity
James 1:3 "Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience."
There is no perfection in Hurrying
Young folks
Keep hurry
Hurry kills Joy James 5:11 "Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy." The Lord is pitiful to Whom??? The Lord is merciful to Whom???
It is not to those that Hurry
Hurry kills godliness
2 Pet 1:5 "And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;"
The man or woman that Hurries
because
Hurry kills protection from Temptation Rev 3:10 "Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth."
Hurry will bring temptation to your door
Patience keeps temptations at bay Hurry kills obedience
Rev 14:10 "The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of
his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the
presence of the Lamb:"
Hurry kills obedience Jesus was not in a Hurry Jesus was never in a Hurry.
He was not in a Hurry
it was prophecied 4000 years before to Adam and Eve in eating after fasting 40 days and nights in the wilderness He even allowed the devil to come and tempt Him with food in walking every where He went
He could have transported Himself, if He was in a Hurry
In His preaching of Asking, Seeking and Knocking
He said I will come and heal him,
In the matter of the storm while in the Ship
Jesus actually slept through it
In His healing the 2 blind men
He immediately told them
In His composure when the Pharisees decided to kill Him
He went about His business
In His statement about the others that were Preaching the coming of Christ.
He told His disciples
In His answer about His mother and brothers and sisters outside to see Him
He never broke stride
In His dealing with the 5000
His disciples told Him
In His handling of His taxes
Trustingly received the money
In His answer to the Chief Priests
In His answer to Pilate
1 Th 5:14 "Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men." Do not get in a Hurry with people Hurry is a killer Hurry kills Victory
Rev 13:9 "If any man have an ear, let him hear."
Hurry kills the Proof of False Prophets
Rev 2:2 "I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and
thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:"
