I was not brought up in a church home; this does not mean I had a bad family life. My parents were loving and caring.

At the age of about 15 or so, I was introduced to drugs, marijuana, weed, or dope. Which is appropriate because it makes you do stupid, dopey things? By the time I graduated high school, I was getting high on something almost daily. Later in my life I asked my Dad if they suspected, he told me yes, but that they were afraid of the answer.

Thank the Lord
About the time I got out of school my mother was saved at a local Baptist church. When I was about 22, two very good friends suddenly stopped the drug scene. I asked why? Jesus was the answer. No drugs were needed with the Lord.

Saved
At age 25 my life was completely out of control, a friend was DOA at a hospital in Dallas and my mother was diagnosed with cancer. I remembered those 2 friends who had told me about Jesus and how peaceful they seemed to be. I went back and asked more questions. And on a cold night in March, I accepted Jesus into my heart and was baptized in the Nueces River. A few months later my mother went home, I live with confidence that I will see again someday.

Baptized
A short time later I joined the Calvary Baptist Church and was baptized again. Not because I did not think the first one took, but to declare my belief before the church.
