Those having the
New Birth, Saved
have become a
New Person
This New Person is a change
from the Old Person and
is proof of having received Salvation
What is the Change?
"Therefore if any man be in Christ
(Saved, Born Again), he is a
new creature (new person, new
creation): old things are passed away; behold, all things are
become new."
The Bible - Book of 2nd Corintians - Chapter 5 - Verse 17
Those who are saved become a new
person. Outwardly, you will still look the same, but inwardly
God has made a huge change. You may make some changes yourself
and you should, but this is not the change in mind here. This is
a God-made change.
What kind of Change?
God puts this one thing, plus much more, but at least this one
thing in every new heart,
a desire to tell others ...
* "I have been born again."
* "I am forgiven."
* "I am on my way to Heaven. Wouldn't you like to know, too?"
When God gives you this change, you will have the proof of being saved, born again, because you got what they Bible promises to everyone who has done what the Bible says to do, which is receive Jesus Christ as Personal Saviour from sin, then experiencing the God-given change - wanting everyone else to know you have it and wanting them to know about it or be saved themselves.
1. Emotion
A feeling of some sort is not a sign of the new birth. Different feelings of all types come and go and only indicate the experience of a feeling.
* Tears are not a sign
* Joy is not a sign
* Love is not a sign
* Happiness is not a sign
or other feelings, sensations or passionate states of mind
sensation
2. Visions
A vision of people who have died or of Biblical characters is not a sign of the new birth.
"for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light."
The Bible - Book of 2nd Corinthians - Chapter 11 - Verse 14
Satan may appear as an angel of light, but this is not proof of anything except how deceptive Satan is.
3. Near Death Experience
Having some out of body experience or dying and coming back to life or having been sent back to the earth from heaven and so on, are not proofs of the new birth.
4. Phenomenons
Experiencing miracles, wonders, marvels, or spectacles of some sorts are not proofs of the new birth.
"And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders"
The Bible - Book of 2nd Thessalonians - Chapter 2 - Verses 8 and 9
Satan is able to perform all types of wonders that could make anyone marvel. So, placing faith in miracles could be a dangerous error.
5. Relief
Many express a sense of a weight lifted from their shoulders.
This release of the burden of sin is a good sign of salvation, but if you did not receive the relief do not think you missed salvation. But there should be some since of loss of guilt of sin.
"As far as the east is from
the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions
(sins) from us."
The Bible - Book Of Psalms -
Chapter 103 - Verse 12
"I
(God), even I, am he that
blotteth out thy transgressions
(sins) for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins."
The Bible - Book of Isaiah -
Chapter 43 - Verse 25
* Faith in Christ does the saving.
* The changed heart does the proving.
"Knowing this, that our old
man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed,
that henceforth we should not serve sin."
The Bible - Book of Romans -
Chapter 6 - Verse 6
Our former heart, "our old man", is
crucified with Jesus. The "new man", changed heart, should not
serve sin any more.
If you do serve sin in the future, it is not a sign that you have
lost your "new heart", but a sign that you have backslid to the "old
man", former heart, old heart.
Being able to stay in the "new man" is not a sign of being saved. Having
received the "new man" at any point in time past is the indication
of having been saved.
The proof is in the change.
Again, the change is best described as a new attitude toward Jesus Christ ...
* wanting others to know about Jesus Christ
* wanting others to know what Jesus did for you
* wanting others to hear about how Jesus saves from sin
* wanting to know more about what Jesus can do for you
* wanting to know more about others who know Jesus
* wanting to know what Jesus would have you to do next
There are many other ways to express the above points and of course there are many ways not mentioned at all. The point is this ...
Do you have a new outlook on ...
* Jesus Christ
* Christians
* Church
* and so on ...
... which is very different than before? This is the change!
Did you get the change?
Yes, I got the
change
No, I did not or I am not sure
