"For the which cause I also suffer these
things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have
believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have
committed unto him against that day."
When Paul says he is not ashamed, the idea here is
he is not ashamed of having trusted in Whom he has believed, Jesus
Christ.
Paul is very confident in this belief.
Self-Confidence?
Not that he has confidence in his ability to believe, but his
confidence is in the One in which he believes, that He is able to
keep all that Paul has given Him, which is Paul himself.
Application
If we, like Paul, were to place our confidence in the ability of
Christ to keep us, like we did when we placed our confidence in the
ability of Christ to
save us, we would also have great assurance
"against that day".
