Shivaree - Gatesville, TX
Gatesville is just west of Waco, right in the
middle of the Bible Belt. Pastor Bogan (worked every minute of the
event) and his people really went all out. When we arrived, we
discovered the event was not going to be in its usual place, inside
a building, but at the city parks (that's right, plural). We had
not brought our canopy, so the church quickly bought one and had it
up almost faster than we could get to our booth space. This was the
5th year we had worked with Calvary Baptist and they
always have soul winners ready to work. After setting up, it looked
as if it may not be a very good location, but the Lord always knows
how to work things out.
The Lord gave us 21 professions of faith, 23
were witnessed to, but did not trust Christ as Saviour on the spot,
8 received assurance of salvation, 52 were dealt with one-on-one.
1200 tracts were placed in willing hands.
Watermelon Jubilee - Stockdale,
TX
The local Chamber of Commerce really pushed for
vendors and the crowd this year. The Lord gave us 16 professions
and we distributed 520 tracts. There were some good contacts made
as well who did not make a profession. There was a rattlesnake
exhibit beside us, but the Lord kept those serpents at bay, too.
Chisholm Trail Round-Up - Lockhart, TX
The Lord gave us 13 professions and 140 tracts
distributed. The crowd was way down as far as tracts were con-cerned,
but we still saw a good number ask the Lord to save them. Some
stayed away, because of the HEAT. It was so hot, the plastic
buttons on our shirt melted. The temperature was so high, you had
to stand on a chair to read the thermometer. It had been so dry,
when it did rain, the kids took it to school for "show and tell".

This is an excellent way to get members into
soul winning who may be fearful of confrontation or answering
questions. The simplicity of the method is the beauty of it. One
or two members are trained as
Shift Leaders in seating prospects
(one hour in special meeting in how to use the 3+3+3=Seated Method,
most of the time is spent in what not to do). When prospects file
by the booth the
Shift Leader Greets, Meets and Seats the prospects
for the Workers (other half of the Team), to witness to them. Since
the prospects have already ASKED TO SEE how to be saved, the
Workers
can go right into the witness, smoothly, comfortably and
confidently. Many more members will volunteer as
Workers when they
realize they do not have to talk the prospects into sitting down and
then not twist their arms to hear a witness and they do not have to
convince them to be saved. Man does the witnessing. God does the
saving.

People know when they are forgiven. It is the earnest desire of
every heart.

I gave my conscience a rest for right now, I was born again
with Jesus Christ my Saviour.
Cassandra had been struggling with her
conscience and got relief. She did not realize right away that
the struggle over future sins was gone, too.

I just realized I was a sinner and needed to ask for
forgiveness.
As difficult as it may seem, there are a
good number who do not realize that they are sinners. A person
cannot be saved from sin, unless they know they are sinners.
Frank - 18
I called on Jesus Christ to be my personal Saviour.
Frank came to the fair to earn some money while on work-release
from jail. Once a Christian, you are on work-release forever.
Elizabeth - 15
She and 4 other girls came to the booth.
Elizabeth was the only one not making a profession of faith.
She would not acknowledge responsibility for Jesus being on the
cross. “It was not me!”, she objected. All 4 of the other
girls tried to convince her, but she steadfastly refused
responsibility. Some may interject that we failed with
Elizabeth, but we submit, the seed was planted deep by us and
her newly professing friends and that seed was watered from a
large heavenly cistern. Telling the story is our job. Saving
sinners is God's.
