Promise for
the Pilgrim
"Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being
left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come
short of it." Hebrews 4:1
Normally, during January
and even part of February, we are in Florida for the Amazing Grace
Mission National Conference and preaching our way back through
Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and Texas. Trying to encourage
churches, not only in soul winning, but to use Public Events as a 2
pronged attack.
1. Effectively reaching communities with the Gospel.
2. Effectively training members in soul winning with abundant
exposure.
This year, God in His
wisdom worked things a little different. Several situations
presented themselves.
Pat's brother-in-law of 38
years was slowly succumbing to cancer, which he had valiantly fought
with the Lord's help, for over 40 years. Since, all close relatives
have already left for the Promised Land, it was incumbent upon us to
not just help out but do as much as possible. What a wonder it was
indeed to see this relative and friend finally give in to the
inevitable without a complaint or a regret, though he suffered much.
Also, our trailer had been
giving us trouble. (Thanks again to those of you who gave to
help.) The electrical components had shorted. The shop was not
making headway and departure was only weeks away. But since the
situation mentioned above became evident, we decided to fore go this
year. This also gave us time to catch up on some writing and
rebuild our web site and do some work in the area.
We are trusting the Lord
will use the site to spread our ministry where we cannot go
ourselves. But
changes like this can be a problem for "hits". Pray
that the Lord open doors for churches to see what can be done, in
their home town, for their community, by their people.

Eisenhauer Flea Market -
a typical experience in San

13 professions of faith - 550 tracts placed in
willing hands - 7 received a witness without making a profession - 2
received assurance of salvation - 3 workers from the church
We have worked this Flea Market many times and
plan to do so in the future. There are several reasons.
1. Good crowds
2. Good interest from the crowds
3. Results are always high, encouraging to
the workers and blessed by the Lord.
4. Heritage Baptist Church, Bulverde, TX, is
anxious to use these occasions to train members in soul winning, and
tract distribution.
We are hoping to train other churches in the
area to do the same. We feel it is imperative for churches to win
their communities. But, there seems to be a shortage of ways in
which to train members, without becoming overbearing to the
community. No one wants to appear obnoxious or pushy. But everyone
wants to see their family, friends and neighbors be
saved. We have
a unique approach. See the next section.

Unique Approach
Typical Soul Winning is basically 2 areas: 1. getting people in
front of an open Bible; 2. taking them through salvation in that
open Bible. Most of the training is in the first part: Greeting,
Approach, Meeting objections, Pointing them to the Bible for
answers. This is not necessary. Once a person is very familiar
with the second part (taking prospects through the scriptures) the
first part becomes rather simple. Any pastor can tell you this from
personal experience. The problem is usually not being able to get
to the second part, without the first.
So, we use Public Events to by pass the first
part and move members directly to the second.
Here is How
A
shift leader is trained to work the front of the booth to Greet,
Meet and Seat prospects for the rest of the members to witness to.
We have developed a method we call "3 + 3 + 3 = Seated" to train the
shift leader in just a few minutes. About another hour is needed to
show the
shift leader what NOT to do. The
shift leader can keep
prospects coming, who have ASKED TO SEE the Gospel, for 1-6 workers
depending on the size of the booth and crowd. So the workers are
only dealing with people who are seekers. A wise pastor will be
present to help members with their hang-ups, fears, rabbit-trailing
and so on in their witness.
Unique
No other soul winning endeavor affords this kind of hands-on
training and supervision and prospect exposure.
