Promises for the Pilgrim

"For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day."  2 Cor 4:16

Hello from the Highways

Thanks for looking in on our ministry.

April was another good month.  We are very encouraged by responses of churches looking to start a Public Event Ministry.  In a day when door to door soul winning is not as productive (not just in winning the lost, but opportunities in relating the Gospel) the church must find additional ways and means.  Public Ministry offers something for Members, Lost, Backslidden and Silent Saints.

Members

*Learn to effectively get tracts into the hands of the Lost  *Learn to efficiently share the Gospel  *Learn to effortlessly become bold and confident in both of the above, yet not obnoxious  *Giving them the tools to be a witness to their Relatives, Friends, Neighbors, Workmates and Schoolmates - this is how to build a strong church.

Lost

*Are presented with the printed Gospel  *Are told of the Gospel verbally  *Are able to see Christ working in the lives of the witnesses  *Are shown by Soul Winning Tools (Banner, 3 Doors, etc.) that they must be Born Again

Backslidden

*Are encouraged to repent  *Are given pointed tracts about Backsliding (how to repent, the results of continuation)  *Are pointed to a local church for help

Silent Saints (non-soul winning)

*Realize the Lost are still getting saved  *Realize the Lost want to hear  *Realize anyone can present the Gospel: verbally or written

Let us know how we can help your church get started training its members to be productive for the Lord!

Season in Full Progress

What can you do to help?  Tracts and Booth Fees are vital.  Money for Booth Fees pays for opportunities to witness.  Money for Tracts pays for a printed witness.  No need for money for a verbal witness, it is free and we are freely giving it away.  Take part.  Jump in.  "…how shall they hear without a preacher (this is not a pastor)."  Some are preaching with a tract, some are preaching with a verbal witness, some are preaching with the money they give so others can carry on the work.

Victories in the Vineyard

Fiesta, San Antonio, TX

Fiesta is one of our favorite events.  It has it all: *Hundreds of thousands of people, *Excellent booth location, *Great Soul Winning workers, *Hundreds and hundreds wanting to hear the Gospel.

This year Liberty Baptist Church, San Antonio (Pastor Dwayne Nichols, Associate Pastor Chris Block, Evangelistic Pastor Roy Castillo) obtained the booth and supplied the workers.  Some worked multiple days, Bro. Castillo was there every hour.  We had to do like Donald Trump and tell some each night, "Your Fired", just to make them go home.  When people get up and shake your hand with a tear in their eye and thank you for being there, its hard to leave.  Some say, "I never knew I could be saved."  A couple of Hindus said, "We can not believe it is so easy"  (They were glad, not skeptical).

Numbers (numbers do not mean anything, but they do indicate where the money is spent and the effort is placed)

689 professions in the booth and on the street corners - 28,000+ tracts were distributed with very, very few on the ground - 39 received assurance of salvation - 116 were witnessed to without making a profession of faith - 451 man hours were spent in the booth - 110 workers from 15 to 75 years of age, English and Spanish speaking (some workers counted several times having come on multiple days)

We used 4 counseling tables (which sometimes were not enough with 1 to 6 people seated at each).  Neighboring Vendors frequently ask, "How do you get so many to come to your booth?"  We ask, "If you could see the New Birth, you'd like to see it wouldn't you?"

The parking was expensive, the restrooms were horrible, the crowd was rowdy, the noise was loud, the days were long, but the fishing was great.  With this in mind, we are making plans for next year already.  Why don't you make plans to come see what it is all about.

Terrific Testimonies

The following gleanings came from the back of Decision Cards of those making a profession of faith or receiving assurance.

San Antonio Policeman

Saturday night, things were getting a little wild at Fiesta, so we decided to shut down and get a fresh start on Sunday afternoon.  As we were wrapping up, a local policeman came up and asked: "You are not going to leave now, just when we need you?"

Pat asked a couple, "Did you get a smile?" (Our tracts have a Smiley Face on the front).  They both recognized Pat and said, "You talked to my wife last year and she was saved.  We have been going to church ever since.  You gave her a great boost."

Teen & Man

A teen threw a tract down and walked on.  A man behind him saw it and picked it up and while walking off was reading it.

Alfredo                    35

He stood down from the booth, looking like he wanted someone to talk to him.  We asked if he was waiting on someone.  He said no and started looking through his billfold and mumbling something.

We asked if he knew for sure if he was going to heaven.  He said he was saved last year at this booth, but since then he had lost it, while still fumbling through his billfold.

We sat him down and showed him from the Bible that he could not lose his salvation.

Finally he found what he was looking for in his billfold.  It was the Birth Certificate (Born Again, get it?) from last year.  It was torn in 3 pieces but pretty much legible.  It was signed by Nacho (Freedom Baptist Church).

He was introduced to some men in the booth to encourage him to get started again in church and to grow in Christ.

When he left, he still was very concerned, but a little more confident.

Thank the Lord we were at the same spot this year so he would know where to find help.
