Hello from the Highways

January was full of miles, from Texas to Florida to Louisiana and many of the diesel stops in between.  Some have said they wish they could travel and see the country.  What we do is not exactly "travel", it is more like deployment.  As far as seeing the country, if it is on the Interstate Highway, we usually blow the horn and wave as we pass by.

Every year we make a well planned effort to get to the annual Amazing Grace Mission National Conference in Seffner, Florida.  This is a good time of refueling the heart and getting some new ideas.  Glen Moore and Steve worked on developing and filming "Training Videos" for seating prospects in a booth situation for a thorough witness.  These are vital for helping churches and "National" Missionaries in foreign countries.  Pray these videos can be edited, produced and put in the right hands with satisfactory clarification.  We also use this time of year to update churches and make new ones aware of the work.

* Thank the Lord we were able to get by to see Pastor Lane and the folks at Astatula, FL, who have been faithful supporters for years.  They rounded up everyone in town, plus a few more the Sunday we were there.  Got to hear Bro. Lane preach that morning.  He used us for Sunday School, then let us have the evening service.

* What a great day we had at Apopka, FL, with Pastor Brewer and his good folks.  They are also faithful supporters.  They are in their new building and on their way to growing out it.  We enjoyed Bar B Q at their dinner-on-the-grounds.  Glen and Carol Moore, good friends who are also missionaries with Amazing Grace, were able to go with us.

* We had a very good Sunday morning with Pastor Babcock and his people in West Monroe, LA.  This was our first time to be with them, but Bro. Babcock is the caring preacher who helped us (better yet, we helped him) replace our broken spring on the travel trailer last year when we were just traveling through.  Mrs. Babcock cooked 2 delicious meals for us.  The Babcocks are wanting to work an event with us to see the operation.  We are looking for something that fits our mutual schedules.

* Pastor McGuffee was in Africa, but he had us come by and preach for them on Sunday evening at Monroe, Louisiana, where we were able to meet Mrs. McGuffee and the whole church family.  Felt like we already knew them, since they knew so many folks familiar to us.  Mrs. McGuffee got in a witness and invitation to church to the cashier at the restaurant.

* We had to make repairs to the trailer in Jennings, LA, and order parts.  Everyone saw fit to take their "sweet time" in getting the parts to us, but God had another plan.  We took this time to get to know some of the area churches.  More about all of this in the February Prayer Letter.  It was expensive, but we are trusting the Lord for the $400 it took to make the repairs.

Victories in the Vineyard

2006 in Review

As far as numbers are concerned, 2006 was our best year yet.  Every year is a good year when you can see the Lord's hand moving.  Thank the Lord for using, of all people, Pat and Steve to get some of His work done.  It is still difficult to believe that we are going to Heaven, image US!  I know some of you reading this, knew us back when … and you are saying, "If those 2 can get in, anybody can," and you're right.  But on top of that, the Lord even uses us to tell others how to get saved.  You would think He would use somebody, who when they spoke, people would not wonder what horse we led into town.

The Lord gave us this past year …

1844 professions of faith - Did all those people get saved?  How do we know?  He is the one that does the saving and knows who meant it and who did not.  Incidentally, the churches do most of the witnessing, we just round up listeners.

101,630 tracts were distributed - All of you that were praying with us to get out over 100,000 tracts this year, got your

prayers answered.  It took lots of miles, hours and hours on the cell phone, many, many, many workers in the booths and sacrificial giving by you readers, in order to get an opportunity for the Lord to enable.

249 Workers in the booths - The Lord gave us a good count and way over our previous best of 150 last year.  These were people who were encouraged in soul winning, some nailing down their witness and testimony.  Pastor Shearin in Waxahatchie, TX, told us that their work in the booth in 2005 at the Texas State Fair, was key to their having over 1000 professions of faith in all of their church ministries in 2006.  They do have some soul winners who are spreading the Gospel.

??? Workers who won their very first souls - We have not been diligent in keeping this number, because when it occurs, everyone in the booth is ecstatic, but it happens every time the local church is able to get their people out to help.  You can easily see the necessity in church turn-out.  Is your church engaged in a vision for evangelism for your community?

Thanks to the Mission and Giving Churches - More and more churches are giving sacrificially to pay for booths and tracts in events in which they work.  This enables us to help the churches who cannot come up with the money or where there are no fundamental churches to help in events.  The Mission is trying to take up the slack, but with our International work taking off, the ever increasing funds have to go further. That swishing sound you just heard is Steve waving his big hat in a huge bow to these churches, individuals and Amazing Grace Mission.

100's Receiving Assurance of Salvation - This is also a tough number to trace, but we know it is large, because of the number of specialized tracts we use solely for this purpose.  We cannot count the number printed because many helpers take these assurance tracts to use in door to door soul winning.

1000's Witnessed to - This number is probably several times the total making profession of faith in Christ and the highest ever.  Several thousand per year sit and listen without making a decision for Christ.  Another 8 to 10,000 at least go through the 3 doors to see what "God Cannot Do".  This is a good witness in itself.  We have contemplated putting a counter on the 3rd door to discover how many people see that "God Cannot Let Us Into Heaven Unless We a Are Born Again."

31 Events - We are thankful for all 31 and to those who helped work them.  Help us pray for 50 this next year.  It can be done and we want to do it for Jesus' sake.  If the lost will come to Fairs and Festivals and will sit and listen to a witness, shouldn't you and Steve and Pat be there to tell them?  If we are going to take the message around the world, we had better win us some help here at home.

Support - Thank the Lord that our support is at it highest point ever and we are grateful, but there is so much more that could be done, if we had the funds to pay for the tracts, booth fees and diesel.  Last summer it cost $1200, just in diesel, to go the Northwest and back to help the churches there with their events.  No Complaints!  God supplied and the trip was made

When Sending Support

Please mail to Heritage Baptist Church, PO Box 2213, Post Falls, ID, 83877.  Do not write our name on the check, indicate on a separate slip, for whom it is intended.  Pastor Haveman personally handles the mission accounts.  We are not fully supported, but fully active from Jan. through Dec.  Fairs, Festivals, Flea Markets, Parades are a great encouragement to Churches to reach communities with the Gospel.
