Promises for the Pilgrim

"When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory."  Col 3:4

Hello from the Highways

Thank you for receiving our Prayer Letter.

September was another exciting month.  A lot was going on and only a 30 day month.

While at the Fayette County Fair, La Grange, TX, we stayed at one of our favorite spots, with the Nutts.  Not only do they provide a place to park under huge Pecan trees, but they cooked gourmet meals every day at noon, provide excellent conversations, can be coaxed into a piano concert and helped every day in the booth.

We also were flown to Conyers, GA, by Pastor and Mrs. R.A. Stuckey and the members of Gethsemane Baptist Church for their Missions Conference.  They went way out of their way to make us comfortable at the room, transportation and meals.  We could hardly enjoy ourselves for worrying about how we could ever come back to be with these sweet folks again.

Words for Soul Winners and Warners

Want prospects for your Teen Ministry?

Some events are noted for having more adults than teens come to Christ.  But, most events are just the opposite.  We are not the least bit disappointed by this statistic.  If America is going to revive, we must start with our young people.  They have the zeal, the energy and the heart for spiritual things.

At many events teens will ask the Lord to save them, leave the booth, to return later with a friend or relative.  Adults will do the same, but not near as frequent.  They have become "Instant Andrews".

They are teachable!  When you are honest and open with them, they respond in the same manner, soaking up everything they hear.  The cults recognize this and bring their twisted facts and scriptures to public events to snatch away our youth.

Shouldn't our churches be at these events with the truth?

Contact your local Chamber of Commerce and ask for a list of events which rent booth space.

Choose several during the year that are sure to have teens attend.

Set up a booth to witness first, then secondarily to appeal to teens.

Make a banner with a name that is exciting and appealing: "Teens in Motion"; "180 Degrees"; "Teens Going Higher"; etc.

As teens pass the booth, attempt to win them, then introduce them to your ministry.

Retain their names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses for contact the next week.

The Friday after the event, schedule a Youth Rally.

Of course you can see the possibilities, not only with teens, but seniors, bus routes, VBS, etc.

Victories in the Vineyard - a few of the Highlights

Highlight - Fayette County Fair, La Grange, TX

Pastor Rumbaugh and the members of the Bible Baptist Church won 50 to the Lord, gave out 2750 tracts and everyone was elated with the contacts and possibilities in reaching their community.  They are now trying to re-contact the prospects for discipleship.

Highlight - Spokane Interstate Fair, Spokane, WA

This is the 5th year and the best as far as numbers, workers and enthusiasm.  Bro. Lehman with Mountain View Baptist Church, Colbert, WA, run this fair every year with a zeal for souls.  This year Grace Baptist Church (Pastor Greg Boyle) was able to help them and the feedback was all positive.  The Lord gave them 84 professions of faith and they distributed 20,000 tracts.  Follow-up is now underway.  Pray for them.

Highlight - Colorado County Fair, Columbus, TX

Denny and Roberta Wallace covered this event again, but rain did too.  You would think this would happen a lot, but it's the first time in 6 years that rain made it almost impossible to do our job.  They did have 3 professions of faith any way.  Can't keep a good couple down.

Highlight - Kolache Festival, Halletsville, TX

Yes you read that correctly, KOLACHES!  Why is it that the Wallaces get to go to the event where they are celebrating the best of all baked goods?  Denny and Roberta had 23 professions of faith and distributed 465 tracts.  How about that ratio?

Highlight - Plains County Fair, Plains, MT

Bro. Rod Lahr is out of Open Door Baptist Church (Pastor John Haveman) in Missoula, MT, and he worked this event by himself.  His booth location was not in a good spot, but he did get out, some way or another, 500 tracts.  He is hoping to do a lot of events in Western Montana.  Call to get in touch for help in your city.

Terrific Testimonies

The following gleanings came from the back of Decision Cards of those making a profession of faith or receiving assurance.

Waitress     age withheld

Denny and Roberta Wallace were in a restaurant in Austin, TX.  While leaving they left a tip with a Smiley Face Tract, then went to the restroom.  After leaving the restroom and headed towards the door, the waitress literally ran up to them saying, “Thank you, thank you, thank you, this is just what I needed, thank you”.

Chris           21

Been born again and helped out by a wonderful person.

Chris immediately went to tell his mother who had the booth next to ours.

Teen

Brought his family by the day after he had made a profession of faith.  His mother was skeptical about the "3 things that God cannot do", which he had told her about.  She apologized when she saw the answers and thanked us for what had done with her son.

Mary            37

I asked the Lord to come into my life and forgive me for my sins.

Aida 25

My heart changed.  I hope to stay with it.

Points for Prayer and Praise

Pray for Steve & Pat.  Health and safety on the road are primary.  After asking the last few months for workers, the Lord has opened some doors for Western Montana, Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles, North Texas and West Texas.  Now we need to find the time and funds to work with these new people.  Also, as an answer to prayer, our support has increased.  But the need for funds for New Booth Rentals and Tracts is out-running the supply.  This is a good problem.  Pray!
