ó Parades Promises for the Pilgrim Heb 11:33 “Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions” Hello from the Highways Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. Thanks to those who call and sent notes, too. We appreciate prayers in our behalf, but personal contact is a huge plus, as well. Not much driving in May. We drove to San Antonio, TX, and pretty much stayed there. We did drive down to Freer, TX, for the Rattlesnake Roundup and we are very glad to say that they did roundup a lot of them. We drove up to Copperas Cove for the Rabbit Fest, too. But only spent a few days at each. Didn’t have any blow outs or tear up the truck or trailer. Gave our angels a rest. We did have an excellent month. Also, Rich and Katie Peters, former members of our church in Idaho, drove 600+ miles out of the way to see us. Great time. Words for Soul Winners and Warners “I’m next!” You never know who is watching or listening. Who is having a bad day or bad decade. Who is confused or just confounded by the rigors of life. In the Soul Winning Booth, they all show up sooner or later. While at Fiesta in San Antonio, Pat was dealing with her very first prospect and a man came up and wanted to know if he could sit down in the shade of the tree that spread over our canopy. He sat down just out from under the canopy and rested. I began dealing with my first prospect and noticed Pat’s prospect was leaving. Immediately, this man jumped up and sprinted over to Pat’s counseling table, pulled out a chair and told her, “I’m next”. He was next to hear that Jesus died for him and that all he had to do to receive Christ and the payment for all of his sins was to call on the Saviour as his personal Saviour. He did and was glad of it. He worked at Fiesta and stopped by several times during the 12 day event. Late one night near the end of Fiesta, I was dealing with 2 teens. Just as they were leaving, this couple sits down at the counseling table with me. I wasn’t sure what they wanted, so I asked, “What can I do for you?” They said that they saw that God could not change (behind the second door), but they wanted to know if God could change them! We went on to lead them to the Lord. The lady was especially animated about her new change. No one asked any of the 3 if they were saved. They just came and sat down. You wouldn’t think anyone would sit down in a public venue and discuss spiritual things. Not only will they come, but sometimes without an invitation. Shouldn’t someone be at these events to help harvest the white fields? Your community? Victories in the Vineyard Highlight – Fiesta, San Antonio, TX This was a miracle from the start. We have tried to get in for years and never could. But we accidentally bumped into Evangelist Roy Castillo at a camp meeting and got to talking about it and he had the phone number in his billfold for the person who rented booths for the carnival. Immediately we discovered that the booth space was way, way, way too expensive. John Gardner, AGM president mentioned the huge need to Jim Gardner who was preaching at a church in Ohio, where he related the need. A man gave him a check for the full amount! Next in just 2-3 days we were able to see the Lord roundup 5 churches in San Antonio to help in the booth. Over the next 12 days we had 36 different workers (some came 2-4 times, Bro. Roy came every night), put in 336 man hours, give out over 10,000 tracts, see 446 make professions of faith in the booth, and 49 receive assurance of salvation. This does not include what the Lord accomplished on the street corners outside the carnival area where 321 professions were made. Lots of crying and shouting over the victories the Lord gave us. Highlight - Rattlesnake Roundup, Freer, TX Freer is deep in rattlesnake country. They arrived in large, plastic trash-cans and the snakes were very disappointed over the ordeal. They were shaking their rattlers so hard and so many of them, Pat said it sounded like crickets on a summer night. But not everyone in town was mad at the world and striking back at everything in sight. The Lord gave us 36 professions of faith at an event where we distributed only 350 tracts. This translates into one out of every 10 who took a tract were seated and made a profession of faith. It was a very small crowd. There may have been more rattlesnakes than people. We were just glad the people were in a better disposition than the serpents. Highlight – Rabbit Fest, Copperas Cove, TX This booth was provided by Pastor McVaney and the members of Freedom Baptist Church. Also, Tabernacle Baptist Church in Killeen and Northside Baptist Church in Burnet came and made significant contributions to the soul winning efforts. We worked Thursday through Sunday afternoon and saw some real victories. 43 made professions of faith. 1400 tracts were distribute from the booth, while 1100 were placed in willing hands at the parade. 8 received assurance of salvation. 30 workers participated in all. Wished we had space to relate all that God did. Many members were greatly encouraged in soul winning and tract distribution. (If you want a soul winning church, start with tracts and start with tracts at parades.) The Wallace’s had 2 events fall through for them. They were ready to go, but things did not work out. Praise the Lord anyway. Terrific Testimonies The following gleanings came from the back of Decision Cards of those making a profession of faith or receiving assurance. Joshua 13 I was saved by this man, Douglas. I decided to ask God for forgiveness. I was skeptical about it, but realized the situation. David 15 Felt a little shaky. Felt lighter. Felt better. Rob 32 I was reborn, saved. Rebecca 15 I, Rebecca, just accepted the son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ into my heart and asked for him to forgive me of my sins and that I’m sorry for making Jesus Christ suffer on the cross for my sins. I was saved. I was lead through an explanation then a prayer to be saved. Rebekah 22 I’ve been saved. She attended a Baptist Church, regularly. Points for Prayer and Praise Pray for the Mission We need more workers to work full time or part time. Some to work within a few hours of home and possibly just on Saturdays. A travel trailer is not necessary. Let us know of your willingness, the Lord will provide an opportunity because He is very interested in seeing the lost reached with the Gospel. Hands on training. Rewards are eternal. Praise the Lord. A good friend called and wants to help at events around the Georgetown, TX, area. More about this later.
