Do not tell Converts they are Saved
When Soul Winning some tell us, "I don't want to tell someone they
are
saved, if I don't know for sure that they are".
Right! You do not know who is
saved and who is not. Only God knows.
Sometimes we can suspect that a person is
saved or not
saved by the
fruit of their lives or lack there of, but only God knows for sure.

A Good Method
Pray with anyone who wants to get
saved, then after the prayer, give
them this warning:
"If you meant what you just prayed, according to the Bible, you are
saved, born again. If you did not mean your prayer or did not understand, you
do not have eternal life, but you are still going to eternal punishment, just
like you were before we talked."

Be Careful - You Cannot
Identify the Insincere
Some soul-winners think they can identify prospects who are
genuinely listening and those who are not. This may be precarious
ground.
We prefer to pray with all who say they want to be
saved,
then after the prayer let them know they are
saved if they receive
the God-given
change.
*
Allow them to decide if they want to pray.
* Allow them to see if they got the Heart
Change, proof of the New
Birth.
Leave the burden on their shoulders, where it should be. My
father used to say, "Every tub sits on its own bottom." How
true! Each is responsible for their own actions. Do not
tell someone they are
saved, how be it to encourage them, but leave
the burden of proof with them. Of course we should also let
them know how to observe, obtain and experience that proof.

Bible Help - Proof of
Sincerity
We like to ask, "Would you like to see from the Bible how you can
know for sure if you meant your prayer or not?" I have never
had anyone tell me, "No!"
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become
new." 2 Corinthians 5:17
Point out to them that all who are "in Christ"
(saved or born-again or eternal life) are new creatures, new creations or new
persons.
Tell them, "You will still look the same, but will have a
* new heart
*
changed heart
* re-born heart
God-Given Change
This
changed heart is not a change the prospect effects (although
they should make some changes in their life), but is a God-given
change. A
change only He can make. When they see this God-made
change come about, they can tell themselves, "I must have meant
my prayer". When there is no God-given
change in their life, they
can tell themselves, "I must not have meant my prayer, I better seek
out some help."
One of the
changes God makes in everyone's life is a new desire of
the heart:
*
to do right
* to not do wrong
*
to seek out a church
*
to know more from the Bible
* to tell others what happened
* and so on
Loss of these desires is not a sign of losing salvation, but indicates
a backsliden condition.

When Dealing with several
prospects ...
Tell the first person, "If you meant your prayer just now, your
friend seated next to will know it next week, they will see a
change
in your life."
Tell the second person, "If you did not mean your prayer just now,
your friend seated next to you will know it next week. They will not
see a
change in your life."
This method does not allow these friends to walk away from the
booth
and never discuss or think about what has happened. Each is apt to
watch and look for a God-given
change in themselves and the other.

Don't
tell them they are saved
Tell them to look for the
change that is indicative of salvation.
Not a feeling, but a God given
change.
