From wishing they could do something
...
* To handing out tracts
* To learning how to witness
* To winning the lost
* To setting aside fears
* To gaining
courage, to confidence, to boldness
* To winning prospects they already know
(this is where church growth is)
* To training others to do the same
"And the things that thou hast heard of me
among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who
shall be able to teach others also."
II Tim 2:2

Simple and Effective
Public Event Ministry is a straightforward way to
train membership in
soul winning, evangelism, witnessing.
* A member can be a good positive witness the first day out
* A member can become confident with very little classroom work
* A member can distribute 100's of tracts in a single session
* A member can encourage others to do the same

Involvement
There are 3 areas of Public Event work
* Public Event Director
*
Shift Leader
* Worker
Top
Team Soul Winning
* One person Directs the whole effort with planning, scheduling,
purchasing, training and encouragement.
* Several persons act as
Shift Leaders by handling one half of the
soul winning effort, finding prospects to whom a witness is given.
* Many Workers actually do the witnessing, the second half of the
the effort.

Splitting the Work among the 3 areas ...
* Reduces the training time
* Removes a lot of fears
* Instills cooperation
* Dispels pride
* Involves more people
* Keeps from overloading a few
* Makes many feel their involvement is necessary

Public Event Director
Either the Pastor or his appointee will be the Public Event Director or local
Public Event Missionary. This person ...
* Finds an event
* Contracts for the booth space
* Raises the money for the booth space fee and tracts
* Supervises the scheduling of
Workers
* Trains the
Shifter Leaders
and Workers
* Prints the necessary forms for follow-up
* Composes the announcements for volunteers and prayer
* Furnishes the booth with needed supplies and equipment

Shift Leaders
They should be
* a little outgoing
* not given to flustering
* not necessarily a soul winner already
* able to take directions
* aware of the urgency involved
They will only have to memorize 3 questions, but
must stick to them word for word.
They must speak up to the public without being obnoxious or a
"carnival barker".
They must take for fact a list of things pertaining to "What not to
do".
Their training takes about 1 hour, depending on the number of
questions asked.
They will be able to seat the first few prospects encountered and
become proficient in an hour's work.
They do not have to memorize a lot of scriptures to meet objections.
The 3 Questions handle everything.
They will not offend the public and make enemies for the church.

Workers
They will do all the witnessing, but will not have to ...
* Handle prospect objections
* Memorize the plan of salvation
* Talk prospects into listening
* Know how to handle the Bible
Every prospect to whom they will witness has already
ASKED TO SEE how to be saved, so as the prospect is seated, the
Worker goes right into the plan of salvation.
Workers will be trained and encouraged at a single,
regularly scheduled, church service.
* Trained in the use of a
Witness Pamphlet
* Encouraged in being a witness
- Witnesses relate the plan of salvation
- Witnesses plant and water the seed of the Word,
while God actually does the saving
- Witnesses understand that very few people will actually
be saved, but everyone will be told how to be
saved,
which is all a witness can really do.
Therefore, telling
the plan is being successful
Workers can use a
Witness Pamphlet for witnessing.
It lends itself to be read to the prospect.
* It starts with why being born again is necessary
* takes them through sin
* presents punishment for sin
* reveals Jesus as Saviour
* Asks pertinent questions
* Leads to a suggested prayer
* Warns of insincerity
* Supplies assurance
* Obtains contact information for Follow-up
* Shows the prospect where to get further help
Top
The Witness
Pamphlet is ...
* short
* is concise
* introduces very few concepts
* repeats for retention
* is not offensive, even in showing the prospect is a sinner
Top
What could be ...
... Simpler?
... Easier?
... more Helpful to the Church?
* The Gospel is spread
* Members become confident, competent soul winners
